It is always hard to find your bearings during the onset of an undertaking. Whether or not that is true to moot, my belief is that it takes an awful lot of focus and determination to create a blog. A lot of people have done it but, in my observation, fail because they forget to follow what they have started. They don’t go! They cannot simply manage to overcome inertia. I, for one, have started countless blogs in the past (all of which are too shameful to mention) but I never seemed to follow through. I was young then so my primary excuse would have to be my lack of focus and the intrepid sense of exploration that engulfed my youth.
Anyway, I shall slightly digress and talk about the point of why I decided to create this blog. The interwebs is cluttered with materials of art, literature, music, fashion & style. The present generation is a gold mine of undiscovered talent, some are heralded while the others remain incognito. But with all the that, few have the capacity to weed out the good ones from the bad.
De gustibus non est disputandum, insists the Latin proverb - or in common parlance, there’s no arguing about taste. In some ways this holds true but I believe that “Taste” is a matter of personal bias. I won’t burden myself in trying to persuade a person whose favourite kind of ice cream is strawberry that prune or pistachio is actually better, but I can enjoy trying. Bearing that in mind, I shall raise no arguments about individual preference other than mine. However, I would like to shed some light on matters of societal consensus when it comes to what we generally think is classy or not. This notion would be greatly reflected in the posts to come.
So with that I shall end this exposition and I hope that this is the start of an amicable relationship between you and me.
Bisou, x
